Beacon Hill Park in the Afternoon

Many birds and spring
flowers added much to our
enjoyment today

Although we were at the ferry terminal before 11 AM this morning, we had a one sailing wait. That means we cooled our heels for two hours until we could catch the 1 PM ferry to Victoria.

We arrived into our Victoria hotel room just before 4 PM. Our hotel serves tea in the lobby at 4 PM. We were the only two customers today. Perhaps that's because it was such a lovely afternoon. I took my camera and we headed across the street to Beacon Hill Park.

This 200 acre park was set aside in 1882. Today, it is a jewel in the city of Victoria, British Columbia. The trails and bike paths wind through such beautiful trees and landscaping. In all seasons there is something to see.

Today we took note of the Great Blue Herons that are nesting in the Douglas fir trees in the west corner of the park. The rhododendrons are huge plants and are just over their best right now. They are in every colour. We spotted a humming bird near the rhodos. We didn't see any peacocks or eagles today but we did see many ducks.

I stopped to see what the artist was painting along the roadway. He had roughed in a landscape on his canvas. I promised to go away and leave him alone.

The Stone Bridge, built in 1889, looked great with its reflections.
