Palomena prasina

Aka green shield bug, these are apparently the most common shield bug in the British Isles. It may just be that I didn't notice them, as they do blend in well with their surrounding greenery, but I do not recall seeing these at all as a child (though we had lots of green shield stamps ..... sorry, bad joke). Whether they are truly more numerous now than when I was a child I do not know, but it certainly seems that way, especially when they hitch a ride on my car!
