Street Painting

This neighborhood street painting was taking place at the intersection of NE Tillamook and Rodney Streets in the Eliot neighborhood.  I blipped it back in 2013 when it had been newly done, now the neighborhood gets together every year to give it a fresh coat of paint.

I have photographed (and blipped) a few of these street paintings in the past, they're part of an effort by a local organization called the Village Building Convergence, their site shows the location of all the paintings in Portland and the upcoming painting schedules.  However, I found out about this one on our neighborhood walk last weekend and reading the fliers that were posted on the utility poles, those fliers work really well.  :-)

I took these shots at around noon so the light was pretty glaring, more pix of the event here.  There was a small band playing music and occasionally reminding folks to stay hydrated and put SPF or a hat on.  I picked up some leaflets and gave my email address so I'm on the mailing list for future things and chatted to a few of the painters taking a break.

We then walked over to MLK and had a really good brunch at Bridges Café, I had a delicious smoked trout scramble, hubby had pepper bacon and avocado scramble.  After that we checked out Title Wave which sells old library books, I spent $4 on two cookbooks.  A leisurely stroll home in the shade.
