Goat's beard
These seedheads are common enough round here. They are bigger and fluffier than dandelion heads. The correct name for these plants is Tragopogon dubius. The yellow flowers are a lighter yellow than a dandelion and more like a little chrysanthemum. In spite of these seeds with their parachutes and wind dispersal, it is not an aggressive weed like the dandelion. In the extra I have included a close up of the seeds which shows the shape of the parachute and it is quite apparent why the name goat's beard is used.
Today and last night there has been no rain. We are yet to see the sun but the week looks good, warming by Wednesday when we should be in the 80s at last.
IO am happy that you all enjoyed the squirrel yesterday. They are coommon enough and unfortunately often seen killed on the roads, especially in town. They start to cross the road and then change their miinds and you never know which way they are going to go if you are in a car. Thank you for all the stars and comments.
