Flowers of the wayside
A small selection of what is flowering along the roadside. Nothing very startling really, but common enough round here.Clockwise from top left: Mirabilis nictaginea (fouro'clock), Coronilla varia (crown vetch), Erigeron annuus (annual fleabane) and Verbascum blattaria (moth mullein). Only the Mirabilis is a native plant, the rest having been introduced at various times, principally from northern Europe and Eurasia.
A much pleasanter day today with sunshine but not very warm yet. That is supposed to come later in the week. I was able to do a bit of weeding this morning but the ground is still too wet for mowing.
Thank you all so very much for all your kind comments yesterday. It was quite a celebration!
