Peterborough Cathedral
In to Peterborough today to pick up my grandson from pre-school , not allowed to call it nursery, he tells me off "Grandma I go to pre-school" thats told me!
I took the opportunity to have a quick visit at the Cathedral. The entrance to the Cathedral is through an archway off the main square in the centre of town, you go through the gateway and it is like entering another world.
It is a magnificent cathedral which dates back to the middle ages when the first monastery was founded on the site in 655 AD. In its present form it dates back to between 1118 and 1238. It became the Cathedral of the new Diocese of Peterborough in 1541 -sorry here endeth the history lesson!
