The Old Man of Coniston

We're on a roll of walking this week, and today took on our biggest challenge so far. We set off on a walk up to 'The Old Man of Coniston' from Torver- and this is the view from the very top! It was a very tough walk both on the way up and down, and the ground was a lot of loose stone so it required a lot of concentrating to avoid any falls. We had lunch at the top in the half mist, then headed back down to end the walk along Coniston Water (you can spot it in the background). One of the instructions in our book referred to a signpost that wasn't there, so the last hour involved being lost and backtracking - but we finally made it home nearly 9 hours after setting off. We've both got very tired legs now!
