Recently, Younger Son did a free trial for Compulsory Bike Training, as he wants to get mobile with a moped.
It was not a success.
He was advised to buy, borrow or beg a bike and reacquaint himself with the concept of balance. 
We managed to borrow one. It's not new, but it's perfect for his needs.
I *may* have added to the grittiness / grottiness of it...
