Not Porty People or Places
This blip was snatched from the car as we made the journey from Ikoyi Island back to Lagos airport. We took this route on Sunday evening, in the dark, Our return, in daylight, was far more revealing. We crossed the longest bridge in west Africa and as we approached the mainland of Africa these dhows were being unloaded at a building site. They were carrying sand for the construction of a new apartment complex.
Our five days here have flown by. We have seen some incredible sights. Met some amazingly committed and friendly people who are determined to play their part in the new age of optimism that is very much at large in this remarkable country of Nigeria in June 2015.
I was particularly impressed by meeting, and speaking, this afternoon, with, two former pupils from the school I was privileged to lead in Gloucestershire! It really is a very small world.
( Connectivity issues at Lagos airport are the reason for the late posting. I will catch up on Journals this weekend!)
