Life through the lens...

First rose of summer

In spite of the cold wind today ( gale force nearly!) three rose buds on this climber have opened out.
I'm sure it is called " Maigold" although I lost the tag many years ago.
It doesn't get any sun, but at least is sheltered from the wind.

Why is it that we never seem to get two days alike?
We have had some sun  today, but apart from hanging the washing out, it has been too windy to be out in the garden.
Fortunately I have some strong pegs, and the washing didn't blow away!

I have spent ages looking out of the kitchen window watching the young birds.
A great tit has been very busy going backwards and forwards feeding some young ones which have been hiding among the pot plants. ( see extra photo)
Two young starlings have been sheltering from the wind most of the day, under the bird table. If they were waiting to be fed, they were unlucky, as mum and dad have decided they are big enough to fend for themselves.
I have filled up the bird bath twice as dunnocks, starlings, and robin have all been having a bath, and splashing the water everywhere!

Hope you are all enjoying the weekend.
I think tomorrow may be a better day!

Many thanks for your kind comments and stars for yesterday's collage, all very much appreciated.
