Life through the lens...

Living on the edge.

Such a wonderful day, that I thought a collage of Bempton Cliffs was the best way to give you a taste of what it was like.

We chose the best of days.
Stood at the top of the cliffs, with the blue sea, and sky filled with the sound and sight of hundred of sea birds sweeping through the sky. Diving, and swimming in the sea.
The gannets soaring through the air with such speed and grace. Reminded us of "Concord".
The little puffins, whose wings were beating so fast, just skimming the sea, coming in near the bottom of the cliffs.
Guillemots, clinging to the cliff sides, along with razorbills.
Then of course herring gulls, and kittiwakes, their nests on any little ledge available.
Along with all this noise, we heard the skylarks singing high above, over the meadows.
The cliff edges were covered in wild flowers too. Mainly the pink of the campion, and the white frothy cow parsley.( The icing on the cake.)

As the sun was so bright it was difficult for me to take good photos, and these are not a clear as I would have liked.

After a few hours spent along the cliff tops, we went to Filey and had a walk along the beach. At 5pm we had the sands almost to ourselves.

Then on to Weaverthorpe and The Blue Bell Inn for our evening meal.
Never been before, but had heard good reports.

We certainly enjoyed the Yorkshire Wolds slow cooked lamb shank, served on mint mash, with mint and rosemary jus. (gravy to you and me!)
But the starter was the "star"!
Fishers Shots........4 vodka glasses filled with potted crab, smoked salmon and dill, fishcake with curry sauce, prawn and chilli respectively.
Truly scrumptious!

A lovely drive back along the country lanes with the sun beginning to go down.

Got home feeling tired, but happy!
