Children's Pavement Graffiti.
So, we are half way through our stay in Santa Margherita, Ligure and we are both enjoying the sunshine and very hot weather.
It was getting rather late in the evening without a blip to post for today but luckily whilst strolling through the seafront park come promenade area after dinner we came across some young Italian children drawing random things with colourful chalk on the pavements.
I persuaded Grandpa to stop and look at the drawings and waited around until the children had finished their masterpieces and proceeded to photograph the different creative elements of the drawings.
Using the iPhone (my preferred camera!) and photographing drawings on a pavement in what was still bright sunlight was, as I am sure you can appreciate somewhat difficult. There were several images and this one was the better one and also my favourite.
It's good to see children having fun in this way. Unlike in the UK where it would likely be washed away overnight, these little drawings will make people smile for many days to come and I am sure that other children will add to them tomorrow and in the coming days until a rain storm washes it all away into a blank canvas for the children to start all over again.
IMHO, this is awesome. Better than using sheets of paper and somewhat fun and creative at the same time - I can't wait to go back tomorrow afternoon and see the extra creations that would have been added.
