Granville

Mr J went out bright and early whilst me and kiddies were still sleeping to get freshly baked croissants and bread for breakfast. When we finally awoke at 9am they were a welcome treat.

Once up and ready to go we ventured to the nearby town of Granville. It was a lovely working fishing town and we parked up by the harbour. Walking along the sea front we saw the fishermen sorting their nets after the days catch had been brought in. A liked all the boats and especially the sea gulls that kept swooping down low to get any fishy leftovers that had been dropped.

We walked right up into the old town and had a nose in some shop windows. Most of the shops close at midday which we didn't realise at first but the coffee shops were doing a roaring trade. Me and Mr J along with our grumbling tummies suddenly became acutely aware of our lack of French lingo! We took a walk back down to the seafront and plucked up the courage to enter a little place serving the most delicious looking crepes. With the waitresses sketchy English and our even worse French we somehow got by and had a lovely lunch. The children cleared their plates too. Whilst the kids had desserts we ordered coffees. I accidentally ordered a double espresso and was buzzing all afternoon!

On the way back to the campsite we had a little visit to a local supermarket to stock up on supplies. I was surprised to see so many English brands on the shelves and opted to buy all the French ones instead. P said "Bonjour" to the shop assistant when we paid and was very chuffed with herself.

When A had a late afternoon nap P and I explored the campsite. We walked to the chateau and around the lake, then found ourselves at the park which had an awesome bouncy castle! P was in her element and we were out for over two hours before Mr J and A came looking for us in time for tea.
