Diary of an Edinburgher

Plan B

We had planned to pop down to the Meadows Festival today, and perchance enter Archie into one of the Dog Show classes, but that bloomin' wind was still with us, and it's usually more of a gale in the Meadows, making it slightly unpleasant for more than half an hour.

But I happened to be browsing through one of my favourite apps - Right Move (I love checking out prices all over the UK and having a chuckle) and spotted a fantastic flat in a grand house in one of our favourite East Lothian towns. It had an Open Day, and so it almost begged for further investigation. Besides, a drive, a doggie walk and lunch by the river in Haddington is always a good choice.

We went up Blackford Hill before we left town. Actually, it was so windy that we took a different walk round the bottom of the hill. I had to take loads of photos before I got one without Archie's beard and eyebrows hiding his face...

When we came back from our walk along the river (Archie went in for a paddle) we had lunch outside at the Waterside Pub. We were very excited to spot the pug and the whippet (and of course, Mr Smith) heading off for a walk. But we were disappointed that they were on the other side of the river...

We had a viewing of the flat, and it was pretty good. In fact, really lovely, with huge grounds and a sit-on mower that the residents use (I've always wanted one of them). But no worries - it just made us realise that what we've got now is perfect for us - we don't need more room or more grounds to look after.

Besides, JR needs to be near a Waitrose!

Archie wasn't car sick on the outward journey. :-)

Archie was sick coming home.  :-(

Home in time for the fantastic tennis final. Well done Stan!
