Bee's Knees!
It's been an energetic day!
The day started early with a ride to Didsbury to meet the gang for a Sunday ride. I left in plenty time but the main road through Denton had been closed off because of a murder. It took a bit to circumnavigate my way way past all the cordoned off streets so ended up having to smash it to get to the clocktower by 9am!
We headed out into the Peak, through Charlesworth (i.e. back home) and up Snake Pass. Yayyy..... the road is closed so nooooo cars! Absolute bliss! I left the group at Bamford as I didn't fancy a >6 hour ride including Winnat's Pass, one of the UK's hardest climb's. Rather, I turned round and ascended the 14km of Snake into a raging headwind! Wow, it was very tough..... Cyclists were everywhere and I found myself in a small group.... one-by-one everyone's legs gave way until there was a bearded man and I. We didn't race to the top as it was so hard going.
When I got home, my trainers were at the backdoor, I quickly got them on and ran to the farm shop the long way, with a total hypo fuzzy wuzzy feeling! Starving, I piled loads into my basket, stood in the queue, close to collapse! Ohhhh no......my cash card wasn't in my wallet so I jogged home, picked it up and jogged back down again. My final ascent of the hill required to sit downs on a wall!
Lunch was amazing and included honey from Padfield. After a snooze, I watched Bradley break the hour record, exited that Heiko who I know was doing the pace board!
