Same. Different.

I love it when the Junior School does whole school art projects.

A few weeks ago, every child in the school was given a canvas to bring home and decorate using found objects in their House colour.

Sally and I imagined a decent size canvas coming home - A4 size, at least! We gathered every yellow thing in the house that wasn't nailed down and excitedly planned it out.

Plans were somewhat scaled back when we saw the actual size of the canvas was 2"x2"! Literally smaller than the palm of my hand. Still, we yellowed it with as much yellow stuff as we could.

And now, everyone's canvases are up on the school wall and the first thing you notice is how different they all are. How many types of greens, blues, reds and yellows. How some collages are chucked on willy nilly and some are meticulously, neurotically neat. And you notice the vast difference between Reception and Year 6. And boys and girls. And those kids whose mums help. And those who don't let them!

And then you see that what you're looking at is not only a wall of art. It's a picture of the whole school and everyone in it. And everyone has put a little piece of themselves on display.

And that's what I love about the Junior School - and it gets me every time.
