Pool and bird house

We're off to Ketapang today in a shared taxi but have the morning to wait around. Andy's not feeling great and has a bit of a dodgy belly so we stay close to the guest house. We're a little tired of nasi goreng for breakfast so buy some fruit, bread and peanut butter and its fab.

The car arrives at 2.30pm and Reza comes to see us off. It takes less than two hours and we are dropped at the Onyx Hotel. It's another business style hotel but the staff seem really nice here and it has a swimming pool! Andy's still not feeling great so chills with his violin. Fred heads for a dip and does a few lengths as the sun is going down. In this pic you can see a large concrete block behind the pool. This is a swallow house where the birds are kept for the famous birds nest soup that they export to China. These unsightly things are everywhere here - in small villages in the countryside and beside office blocks in the cities, loads of them. Apart from looking awful they are really noisy and we're sure the birds aren't too happy either.

A chilled evening watching Spiderman, the movie, on tv in the room.
