God is gracious

On her back, she had the footprints, birth dates and names of her two children.  Her friend had something written in Cree on her shoulder:  God is gracious.  I thought this was ironic given that Canada's Truth and Reconciliation Commission has just released its report on the cultural genocide which was practiced in the residential school system - a system in which indigenous children were removed from their homes / parents to be "re-educated" to forget their original culture and language.
