Year Three

Interesting day

Beginning to wonder if the cycling companies aren't selling cycling tours of Stelvio to inexperienced cyclists.

I'm coming to this conclusion for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, the latest crop of cyclists have been really nice people. That's not normal. They smile, they interact with me, tell jokes, and so forth. (Had an old Italian gentleman this afternoon motioning to slit his throat as the going was that hard).

These are just not my normal cyclists.

Secondly, and more importantly, they are a lot less prepared than usual. Seen more cyclists come off in front of me in 13 days than the previous 3 years. More cyclists are stopping at my corner to contemplate why they are doing this, than ever before.

And the sweeper for the tour yesterday was probably still on the pass long after the sun went down, so slow was his group.

However, despite the lack of experience these guys are showing, they still have that same "leave the dead or dying by the way side" attitude the professional guys have. This guy had severe cramps, howling with pain. After I finished with I all the bikers going past, I went over (not too quickly), took his bike off him and propped it up against the wall, and then let him crumple to the ground in pain.

He laid there in agony, and not a single cyclist stopped to give him a banana. Bikers stopped for him, he was howling that badly. yeah, they stopped to make sure he was ok. Ish.

But other cyclists, compatriots, no, they left him for dead.

The cyclist coming up isn't actually offering any help, he's asking the guy on the ground if he's going to die, and can he sleep with the guys wife if he dies.
