Charity
Charity has been our secretary for a couple of months and I have really warmed to her. She has life experience and that always shines through in someone's personality. Originally from Nigeria she sought asylum in Germany where she lived for several years. A couple of years ago, internet dating led her to Kent (where co-incidentally I was born) and she married an Englishman. They migrated to Australia soon after, although she still misses England. There is a sad story too: her sister died in childbirth and Charity adopted her neice. Despite putting in the paperwork for her adopted daughter to come to Australia, she was told she had applied for the wrong visa, and now she has to resubmit her application under a different visa classification. This little girl only has elderly grandparents and Charity is desperate to get her to Australia. She has been informed that the visa, which is in South Africa, will take at least a year to process. Having been a temporary resident here for sometime, I know how frustrating and powerless one feels in this situation. I hope next year we will be having a big party for daughter's arrival in Australia.
