More Than Words

The 'boys'.

I have worked in a department seriously short of senior staff for he last 4 years and it has been overwhelming at times: I have thought of quitting a few times, despite my love of the work. My boss and I have been asking for more staff for a long time and at last we have 2 new, recently qualified consultants. I knew Thang (right) before, he worked here after I plucked him out of general practice 3 years ago. Raj, however, was an unknown entity but is working very well in the department. I have nicknamed them the 'boys' as they are considerably younger than me, and everyone finds this term quite amusing. They were both born in Australia but Raj's parents come from India and Thang's from Vietnam ('boat people' after the war). I am really happy with how they are working and both show a great of maturity, which is needed in palliative care.
