Pepper
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and I think trying to copy another artist or photographer's work is a useful exercise occasionally. You see an image, think I could do that, but when you try to reproduce something similar yourself realise how difficult it is. Edward Weston photographed peppers in black and white and the pictures look absolutely stunning. I saw some of his work a few years ago in an exhibition and was just amazed at how he could take an ordinary thing like a pepper and make it look monumental and timeless.
