Childhood in Africa
I grew up in Malawi in Central Africa. My early childhood was spent living on a farm in the bush where we would go for an evening walk around the edge of the fields and hear the vervet monkeys in the trees. I started school aged 7 , having spent the first year of education being taught by my mum. She got the books and workbooks by mail and the lessons were delivered over the radio.
This photo is of my sister and I [ I'm the older] playing in the garden. we had such wonderful times and played such imaginative games in a time before TV [ which didn't exist in Malawi] , the internet or any of the other media younsters have today. Our world was full of large puddles which became oceans, trees with houses in them [our treehouse] and riding around the farm on our bikes. We loved it!
Happy Times :)
