Red-tailed Hawk catches food for its young...

All of a sudden we heard a thud and saw out of our family room window that a Red-tailed Hawk had pounced on something on the step of our back deck.  It paused for a brief time then flew off into the wood with what looked like a Chipmunk in its claws.  This Red-tailed Hawk must have a nest nearby as we see it quite often flying very low through our backyard.
If you go quickly to Cornell's Red-tailed Hawks cam you may catch the young make their first flights from the nest.

Watch...  Young ready to fly from the nest...
I'm also adding as an extra 3 pics (collage) of a fawn hunkering down next to its twin in the long grass and brush to stay under cover while it's Mom went off for a while. I saw the head of the first Fawn as the second walked over and hunkered down next to it.    It's said that when fawns are born they do not have any scent so they can lie in long grass and stay still and not give off a scent that would attract a predator to its hiding place.
