Local / Tourist
A good Prashant class this morning. More on incorporating the whole self into the practice, but also a lot of back bending. He ended the class by talking about his father, saying that he didn't "preach what he practiced." Prashant said that the way his father practiced was nothing like what he taught. I assume he is thinking about some of the extraordinarily long holds and deep work his father did in his later years, aspects of practice that would be hard to teach.
Then, after our 3-hour practice, MM and I had lunch at the most fabulous place, visited mostly by locals, I'd guess. For 160 rupees (about $2.50) we had meals that looked a lot like this one and was the best food I've had so far. And they keep serving you more until you say uncle.
Later we went to the Raja Dinkar Kelkar museum (where I didn't pay 500 rupees to take photos, but this guy did.) About three quarters of our way through the museum all the lights went out and none of the staff came up to check on the 10 or so museum goers walking around the very dark rooms. Luckily MM had a flashlight with her.
After that we walked around Laxmi road and went by this Ganesh temple. I was not alone in standing outside the wall taking photos through the glass window. It's visited by locals and tourists alike, most coming to leave offerings and say a few prayers. Everything we did today is in the Pune Guide, the go-to guide for yoga tourists, but we were very much among the locals all day long.
