Lancashire in Germany

This morning we took the tram westwards to have a look at the Baumwollspinnerie.

In 1907 this was the largest cotton spinning mill in Europe. All red brick, large buildings and chimneys, it would fit perfectly in any one of a number of Lancashire towns. Now it is all converted into art galleries and studios, and is fascinating to walk around.

This blip shows a number of the little galleries, studios and businesses located here. It includes bikes - it seems everyone in Berlin and Leipzig cycles everywhere.

The extra is one of loads of classic cars we saw in the centre of town in the afternoon. I like this one because it is a Jaguar, has a badge saying "Coventry, England" on the front, and St Thomas's Church is reflected in the polished paintwork.
