Bridesmaid
2years 231days
A big day in little Katie's world - the first time of her being a bridesmaid. She was really excited about Abbie's wedding. She remembered trying her dress on before, so was looking forward to getting to wear it properly. She couldnt wait to play with her little friend Jack.
We arrived quite early at the venue. Katie explored, dragged big balloon bouqets around (from the previous days' wedding, not trashing this ones!) and watched us set up the studio. We headed to the bride's house and Katie played with Victoria for a while as I did photos of the girls' hair being done. She couldnt wait to put her dress on, then ran around like a loon for a while! She had a little sleep before the ceremony (all of about 20 mins). The entrance of the bridesmaids' was a new one for me - I walked my gorgeous little bridesmaid down the aisle, before turning round to photograph the bride's entrance.
She was wonderful during the ceremony, sat on one of our knees just watching. After the ceremony she had a lot of fun with balloons and her little friends. And with the confetti pile. The photo of Katie playing in the confetti, well she then was joined by the bride on the floor, throwing confetti over each other. It was a really special moment.
The two little bridesmaids and Jack, their friend and pageboy, had a fantastic time during the meal - for the 3 hour time they were playing with balloons, bubbles, confetti, stickers. They chased each other round and round our table during the speeches, giggling happily.
After the meal, Katie and Jack spent an absolutely adorable time on the dance floor, in very nearly a proper ballroom hold dancing round together. The toddlers all had fun dressing up in the props for the evening's photo booth images. Katie fell asleep in my arms, snuggled up to Monkey, after a really special day.
I guess realistically I was never going to chose one image from today. I am SO SO proud of Katie. What was asked of her today wasnt easy when you're 2 years old. Not only was she a beautiful, charming delight of a bridesmaid, but she did it despite an unfamiliar day of watching Mummy at work. She was amazing. She really dazzled me, and those at the wedding too. I have to say a huge thankyou to Victoria for her part in that. And Congratulations to Abbie, Scott and Jack. I hope they have a lifetime of happiness.
