Slow cooker

So anyway, my folks (for long-winded reasons) gave me a slow cooker and today I am having a go with it. A lamb shank, an onion, two carrots, a sweet potato, two bay leaves, a sprig of rosemary, some pulses, stock, tomatoes and red wine vinegar are all now sat in it...um...slow cooking. The notion that I just ignore it for seven hours is utterly alien to me.
