Wild Blackberries
When we first moved to this location almost 40 years ago, the wild blackberries were everywhere along the then dirt road and in the areas around our yard..which we left wild and forested. The boys and I could pick a bucket from just one spot, getting scratched all over our arms, swarming gnats in our face, be all hot and sweaty but then I would make a blackberry cobbler served with vanilla ice cream. Well worth all the work except for those little seeds in the blackberries!
Now there are only a few hardy bushes along the road..usually the birds and deer get them before enough get ripe to pick or it gets so hot with no rain (as it is now) that they just dry up.
Lots of memories along the old road in front of the house.
