Pool Day
We celebrated Father's Day and birthdays with J's family today at the pool in St. Louis Park. I got some great shots of J's dad going down the slide with the kids and of all the big kids jumping off the diving board. But my favorite photo was this one of my 2 year old nephew and one of my nieces playing with his new firetruck. O suggested the gift since it is a source of constant entertainment whenever Z comes over. O went with me to pick out the gift. At first he thought we could give Z ours, but then what would he do when he came over!? When we got home form the store, I actually caught O sitting on the couch quietly, with his fingers on the buttons of the truck, lost in his still innocent imagination. I think I will cling to that image over the next couple of years as he stretches from child to tween.
Anyway, the pool was busy, as would be expected on a sunny Saturday. Z found a quiet place in the grass behind our gazebo where he ran freely in his saggy diaper and imagined zooming adventures with his new red firetruck. Even two year olds like a little quiet privacy when they are having adventures in the mind.
