The evenings

are wonderful, a pink haze as we look out over the Med sitting on the balcony with a drink, with the ladies in the house above discussing 'whatever' in French although this evening some English when on the phone. A one sided conversation as we read trying 'not' to listen but somehow straining the ears...

The word community has a different meaning to that on Mull. At home it's about people, organising events, caring for those in need and so on. It could mean the same here, but we have never seen the ladies who live just above us, their balcony overlooks this one as we listen uncomprehendingly to their chatter. But, there is a community swimming pool, dustbin - collected each morning - recycling point and post box. The post is delivered to a large box at the end of the road with each residents names above a locked box.

Although I wonder if the neighbours have a get together for a meal, help each other with wood cutting or 'do' morning coffee and cakes? Hope so.
