Beyond the Ha-ha.......

Left early to visit mum who is progressing well. Cooked her lunch but left her the washing up as she can manage more now she is only reliant on 1 stick. We are back to the hospital next week. 

Left there at about 1315 and drove here which is only a 10 minute drive. I noticed that several local blippers have been here very recently & when Mum's neighbour said she'd been I had the urge to go myself despite visiting the place on numerous occasions. So I made time (& energy) to visit on the way home.  I was only here for approx 45 minutes - just time to explore some of the grounds & the inside of the church.

Had quite a chat with the chap who inspected my ticket as I could remember back in the late 60s / early 70s visiting and meeting Sir Ralf Verney who practically showed us around the place. He actually persuaded us to buy a book from him which he autographed just inside. I still have that book. He told us about the his ancestor who was the standard bearer at the Battle of Edgehill. There is a monument in the church in his memory.

I was late as I had promised to be home by 1430, so as soon as I walked in Carol walked out grabbed the keys and was gone to see her mum.

It has been a fine sunny day & the car told me that it was 24C on the way home.

When we both have time we both will visit Claydon House again which famously has links with Florence Nightingale...but we will talk about that another day ....
