Amaryllis

This amaryllis is from last christmas.  It has been dormant in the greenhouse since then and has suddenly sprung into life.  It has been in bud for the last few days  but, this morning it opened fully.  The sun was extremely bright through the window so I was going to move it to another place to get the shot, but wondered what would happen if I left it on the windowsill but closed the blinds to give a background.  I was surprised at the effect, thinking the strong sunlight would wash the colour out. I also came in really close and have included that shot as an extra photo
