A hard-working Foxglove

Foxgloves seem to have done particularly well this year so I decided to see how many flowers this very tall one had managed to produce. There were 128 gone to seed (as in the right-hand corner) and 38 still in flower and bud and that was only on the main stem - 166 in total. There are two side shoots also producing good sized flowers so this one Foxglove is responsible for over 200 flowers! We did nothing as this was self- sown, but we, and the numerous bees, have enjoyed the result.
