Round the Island Race

Over 1500 yachts took part in the annual Round the Island yacht race in what was called champagne conditions of sunshine and perfect wind. 

Hundreds of spectators watched from vantage points all around the island.  I saw the start at 7AM which saw close racing close to the shore giving a close up view of the action. 

Later in the day I saw the leading yachts crossing the finish line with the fastest taking just 4 hours to circumnavigate the Island. Smaller yachts took rather longer with the bulk of the huge fleet taking around 9 hours.
