Ride into the Clouds
Spent an enthralling day on London's South Bank on an 'Impressions of London' workshop led by Doug Chinnery and Valda Baily
Splitting us into two groups Doug explained the techniques of Intentional Camera Movement whilst Valda, the specialist on in camera multi exposure showed how two or more exposures can be combined in camera to give a hopefully artistic result.
We spent the day honing the techniques between Tate Modern and the London Eye with breaks for coffee and lunch where we compared images and plied the tutors with many questions.
At the London Eye I combined one picture of the wheel with a second of the sky for an image of the gondolas ascending into the clouds. The famous skateboard park was an excellent venue for practicing ICM with my best attempt shown in the extras.
It was a fun day and great to be able to throw the rulebook away and just enjoy some fun photography.
After the workshop I had a Blipmeet with Cheryl at Tate Modern where we both tried some ICM in the Turbine Hall with the evening light streaming through the end windows, also in the extras, before ending the day with a pleasant meal and lots of photography chat.
