Who'd have believed it!

As I was leaving the little local nature reserve this afternoon I had to slam on my brakes to avoid running over a snake.

Looking back, there are SO many reasons why it was a bad idea to pick up an unknown breed of snake to stop it slithering into the grass before I photographed it!

However - it turned out to be a grass snake - which fortunately isn't illegal to handle - nor was it likely to turn around and give me a venomous bite, but I can tell you from first hand experience that they give off the most revolting musky smell when handled ..  and all that waffle is about my extra photo!

But, because I love my little leveret SO much, he is my blip :)
