One species each day (from my backyard)
Identifying the purple Helleborus is still a challenge, but identifying the aphids colonizing it appeared not too difficult. Of course the host was a big clue, and then the aphids matched all the characteristics of the discription at http://influentialpoints.com/ (what a name!), so I'm satisfied this Helleborus flower is colonised by Macrosiphum hellebori. I noticed the aphid colony there a long time ago and the odd shape of the flower may be due to the aphid's sucking damage. Anyway, if the Helleborus isn't the new species of the day, the aphid is, and I may be able to upload the Helleborus again one day when I've got its binomial name right.
