Edinburgh day 3
Still lashing. We left my brother doing filmic things, son#2 had an interview whilst up here (excellent timing) so Himself, son #1 and I headed off to the National Gallery. A fanastic array of paintings- we were especially taken with the Scottish collection. Rejoined by son#2 , now with contract (!) we then strolled down the Royal Mile towards the new Parliament buildings, marvelling at just about everything on the way - so many wonderful old buildings and men in kilts!! We were not hugely impressed with the architecture but did like the main chamber. We stared up at Arthur's Seat, Holyrood was closed and expecting Her Maj and then tramped back to send the lads off homeward bound.
Rejoined my brother for the evening and the skies finally cleared. Another delicious meal and a lesisurely stroll around the sights - the scaffolding in the distance is getting ready for the military tattoo.
Extras - some red and blousy poppies in one of the many interesting cemetaries; a fine plaster thistle; son#2 enjoying a wee glass of wine as we ate al fresco in a slight drizzle; a Scotsman sans kilt; evening reflections in St Giles
