Indian Porcupine

Before leaving Lyon, we visited the small zoo in the Parc de la Tête d'Or near our hotel. This Indian crested porcupine was one of the more curious animals we saw--note how he is holding the carrot to his mouth with this paw. The other one in the cage carried at least two such pieces of food from another small pile into what looked like his den--to hide it to eat later?

In mid-afternoon we picked up our rental car in the center of Lyon, and drove some 90 minutes northwest to Charlieu--the start of an eight-day trip through Burgundy, heading back to Paris to fly home. More in the  coming week.
