Arch
I have only taken one photo today - although I've added a few of flowers in the garden this evening, just before the thunderstorm and torrential rain arrived (ie now).
So this is a quick blip on my way into Manchester for a meeting. It's the largest vacant site in Salford, close to the City Centre, and which will become a new largely residential neighbourhood south of Chapel Street.
This bit of the site off Middlewood Street is being used to fabricate a large arch structure, which is going to be positioned on legs currently going up on the large roundabout at the end of the M602 and before Regent Rd (the "Quays Gateway"). It is going to advertise things. It is going to be big.
One way of mitigating the impact of the huge cuts and reductions in service that have to be made in this age of austerity is to increase income - and this is one way of doing it.
Pity the chap working here, all dressed up on such a hot day. Productivity on construction sites must be difficult to maintain when the temperature goes up like it has done today.
