Glasses

A lie on this morning til 7:30 was very much appreciated after a hot night when only Matthew got enough sleep. Then my phone reminded me our eye clinic appointment was at 10 today - not next week - so we had to get a move on. Abandoned the hoover in the living room wrestled with suncream and thanked heaven fir a cooler day as we cycled into town (past the road sweeper which us permanently patrolling near the building sites at Addies who gave us a little beep and flashed his headlights as we waved).

Arrived bang on time - and found friendly people and a good waiting room with lots of toys. Perfect when you have to wait around 30 minutes for your eyes to dilate once the eyedrops are in (heaven knows how we would have managed *that* without the magic of breast feeding!)

Anyway long story a little bit shorter he is really quite long sighted - 7.5 in one eye and 8.5 in the other - so will need glasses. With the prescription initially cut by 3 while he gets used to them and a follow up in September. We stopped at CB2 for an icecream and then found a little park before cycling home again in the rain (and another little friendly beep from the road sweeper as we passed it).

Post nap I offered Matthew a choice between going to visit Jack or going to the glasses shop - and he chose the latter! So we went to see what the village optician is like - it appears to be run by a slightly elderly couple who were very friendly and tried to tempt Matthew in with the teddy bears. Though in the end it was trying on glasses which got him through the door. These are the ones he picked and we'll get a call in a week or so when they are ready. (He's been promised another ride in the up and down chair)

And we still had time to nip to the park and play with the hose in the garden before tea.
