Smashed

I think this tree was smashed by some wild weather a while ago.  We had someone coming to survey our drains (as you do) at 8am so I left Roland to it and decided to take a different route to work.

I went through one of the (many) local parks and spotted a muntjac deer, poppies of many colours, an open tennis court with a couple of people preparing to play and a bench in the memory of 'Monty Proudfoot'.

Then when I arrived on campus I cycled through the woods, taking paths I never have before and found myself gloriously lost. 

It really was a fabulous way to start the day.

I'm trying to ignore the news for a few days and this weekend is going to be dedicated to simple pleasures: a local school fete on Friday evening, the Lord Mayor's Celebration (ie loads of street entertainment) on Saturday and the Norwich Lanes street festival on Sunday.
