My lovely rose...
....that has a rather nice story behind it! Many years ago, about 26 I expect, R went for a walk and brought me back a spray of this rose from a derelict farm cottage. He stuck it into an old fashioned milk bottle for me with a note!! it sprouted roots and we eventually plant it here. It's had a bit of a chequered career as it was sprayed, unintentionally I may say, when we were trying to clear the ground elder. It suffered for a long time but I always cut it to the ground and up it came again. It has flowered quite well before but always suffered from mildew. This year however, it's surpassed itself and although it's been a bit battered by the rain, well, you get the idea. It means a lot to me because I'll always remember that day & the note whenever I see it. I'm so glad that it came in the part of the garden that we retained when we built the house.
Out tonight, lovely journals but doubt I'll get time to comment much. Enjoy your weekends. We are off to the Backdowns Woodland Fair tomorrow so I hope I find an interesting blip from there.
