Grand Portal Point on Lake Superior

We got up and made oatmeal and hot chocolate for breakfast. Tasty. We then had to re-pack our backpacks with more wet stuff. No fun, but we were hoping to see some sun today.

It didn't come for quite a while, but finally the giant orb in the sky started lighting up the cliffs (called the Pictured Rocks.) But, again...again...again...I had problems.

My camera started acting up, AND, ON THE BEST PART OF THE CLIFFS!!! It would only work in Landscape mode, and even then didn't want to focus. Plus, when I turned it off...it stayed on. ARRRGGGHHH!!!!

After maybe 90 minutes, I turned it on, and it was working normal again. But, by then...the most dramatic part of the hike was over. Oh well. It made me wonder if my late night foray to the lake last night might have moistened up some of the contacts. Hard to tell.

Way back in 2007, a man was charged with pushing his wife off of the cliff in the background. It's hard to tell in the picture, but the cliff is 200 feet high. With no witnesses, all of the evidence was circumstantial, and the husband was found not guilty.

We ended up going 7.5 miles, hiking out, returning to the motel we were at on Monday night, and went out for a trout dinner. It was yummy.

Heading home in the morning.
