the cupboard conundrum

how to get more space on the inside of a wardrobe, without changing the outside dimensions??

 we totally refitted it today... went from 1.4 meters hanging space and  2.8 metres of shelves, to 1.8 metres hanging space,  and 3.5 metres of shelves plus 1.4 metres of floor space... 

I've spent too many years at work buying storage systems for objects, and figuring out how racking and shelving works... I definitely need to get out more... 

It was another day of DIY activity in operation 'childproof the house, so the furniture does't fall on little un' ...  whilst also trying to solve the dilemma of how do we make all of our stuff fit into one cupboard so that little un has plenty of space for books, toys and her stuff...
