Curlews
The highlight of our walk today!
We had glorious sunny weather,( which wasn't forcast!) for our walk from Silsden, up over Great Slack, Silsden moor down to Kildwick Grange, and back along the Leeds Liverpool Canal to Silsden. About 8 miles.
Wonderful views in all directions when we were up on the top.
The meadows were full of wild flowers. Dificult walking in places as the grass was so long. The farmers haven't been able to harvest because of all the rain, but the grass has certainly liked the wet conditions.
The highlight though were the two curlews in the photo.
We started crossing one field and these two were flying round us, calling and swooping down around us all, trying to warn us off.
As soon as we climbed over the stile into the next field they stopped and settled on the wall. Obviousley they were protecting some young ones in that field, which we couldn't see because of the long grass.
I was thrilled to be able to photograph these birds so close.
The fact that they were on top of a lovely Dales dry stone wall added to the picture.
Hope you all like it too.
The walk finished with a few pints sat outside the pub enjoying the sunshine and having a good laugh!
A great day had by all!
(MrC now watching football......again!)
