House of Mary and Ephesus.
Today we woke up in the port of Kusadassi in Turkey. This is the first time my body has set foot on the continental plate of Asia.
We visited the House of Mary first thing in the morning which is allegedly the house where Mother Mary spent the late and final days of her life. This is a very special place for some people and you could easily see the emotion evoked for them. No photos allowed in the house itself but the external can be seen in extras.
When leaving the house there are spring water taps of holy water which is said to have curing properties. You can fill your own bottles as you wish. When exiting the area there is also a wishing wall where you can post messages and attached them to ribbons (see extras). Me being mister sceptical did neither of them but find it a fascinating experience.
The second part of the day was spent around the ruins of Ephesus. I've always wanted to visit this place since seeing a few concerts being performed there. It really is an impressive place and to think only 5-10% has been excavated so far.
Another hot and tiring day but wonderful interesting day of the trip. I won't complain about my aching feet as we saw an old man in his late 80's doing the same tour and didn't struggle once.
Another place crossed off the list I've wanted to see. Happy days.
