Tornado Watching

While Miss Flum chose her own viewpoint, Mr Flum and I decided to see LNER 60163 as she took on water at Morningside station this afternoon. It became apparent that all was not well, as the engine had stopped too close to the road bridge (behind us) instead of the pedestrian bridge (see top of photo), with the result that their hoses were not long enough to reach. After some delay and discussion, the train reversed the  necessary few yards and the task duly began, but not before a tray of coffee mugs had been passed from cab to steward (see extra photo 1). We then moved to see the train as it continued its journey past Blackford station (extra photo2).

Having reconvened over lunch, the three of us decided to see her as she came round again, this time around Niddrie West, from a bridge conveniently close to Asda carpark, by which time the weather had deteriorated to steady rain (see extra photo 3).

Sir Nigel Gresley is due into Waverley any time now, hopefully witnessed by the other two Flums: We met him at Grosmont recently, so I'll back blip that soon!
