Looking for Dad

Backblipped for 5th July

Another day for seeking ancestral locations, this time for Mr Flum's father's family in Sunderland. We interrupted the journey paying a return visit to the National Glass Centre for lunch in the excellent cafe and another purchase of student work, which represents great value for a modest fee. My blip is in the museum section and I failed to note the title or artist. It is a large piece, about 18 inches high, I particularly liked the inclusions of twisted canes, representing seaweed, in a submarine world.

And then to nearby Roker, where we peered at the neat little house and the alley to the rear. As with my ancestors, we don't know that Dad actually lived there but his elder brother and sister did. We have since discovered that we were looking at the house next door by mistake!

From there we wandered around Seahouses, then proceeded via the Tyne Tunnel, which proved very picky over which coins it would accept, to an amble round Amble before taking the pretty way home, arriving in time to consume our lunchtime leftovers for tea.
